TRACK RACING REPORT- WEDNESDAY 5 NOVEMBER

Early completion of remedial work on the Bundadome provided an opportunity to reinstate a previously cancelled track session on Wednesday, 5 November. We had good attendance with 19 riders and a number of interested spectators, some of whom will likely race in future.

The A grade scratch race was again tactical. However, an early break by Ed Garnett and Michael Langdon was brought back. Steve Jones powered to a win from a bunch sprint. The B Grade bunch stayed together during their scratch race, allowing Brad Sellwood to win with a fine sprint. The 20 lap points races were hard events, with sprints every 5 laps. Steve Jones dominated A Grade winning three of the four sprints. In B Grade, Craig Kentwell and Brad Sellwood garnered equal points to share a win. Ashley Sked provided some excitement with a break in the final few laps of the B Grade race. However, his initiative went unrewarded when he faded in the final lap.

The Italian Pursuit races were both close. Uneven team numbers was compensated for by one rider in the smaller team doing an initial two laps before dropping out. The B Grade Italian pursuit was particularly close with less than 200mm deciding the race outcome.

Major place getters were as follows:

8 Lap Scratch: (A Grade) Steve Jones, Jim Davey, Andrew Peel; (B Grade) Brad Sellwood, Craig Kentwell, Ian Drayton.

20-Lap Points Race: (A Grade) Steve Jones (19), Michael Langdon (11), Chris Thompson (10); (B Grade) Brad Sellwood & Craig Kentwell (18ea), Bruce Griffin & Ian Drayton (8ea).

Italian Pursuit: (A Grade) Team 2 won (Gary Waldron, Ed Garnett, Ben Robey, Andrew Peel, Eddie O’Farrell, Jim Davey); (B Grade) Team 1 won (Craig Kentwell, Ashley Sked, James Meredith, Ian Drayton).
